11 U.S. senators call for ban of Huawei inverters

Eleven U.S. senators wrote a letter to Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen asking them to ban the sale of Huawei solar products in the United States “to protect U.S. electrical systems and infrastructure.”

When asked in December 2018 about the future of Huawei inverters in the U.S. after the arrest of Huawei’s CFO and deputy board chair that month, a representative from Huawei told Solar Power World that the company “will continue to serve the needs of our customers with our high quality solar inverters.”

The company also issued a statement to its global solar customers that month maintaining its innocence and stressing its commitment to cybersecurity.
