San Diego Tops List As 2018’s Greenest U.S. City

According to WalletHub’s list of greenest cities in America for 2018, San Diego ranks number ONE! This report ranked the 100 largest U.S. cities on four main categories: environment, lifestyle and policy, energy sources, and transportation. 26 green indicators were scored within those categories including: smart energy policies, amount of green space, greenhouse gas emissions per capita, percentage of commuters who drive and green job opportunities.

In the U.S. four of the top five cities are in California. Here in California, we are viewed as the nations leader on environmental issues and utilizing alternative energy.

High electricity rates and living in a sunny state are some of the main reasons why California is the undisputed leader when it comes to solar power in the U.S. Nearly 17 percent of California’s electricity comes from solar, with the sector there employing more than 86,000 people!
